Kenenisa Bekele, Haile Gebrselassie, and Mo Farah in Slow Motion at the 2013 Great North Run

I’m a sucker for good slow motion videos of elite runners. A Twitter friend (@RunningTraining) captured a nice video of the top three men at mile 12 of the 2013 Great North Run. You might be familiar with these three, all of whom will go down in history as being among the greatest distance runners […]

Under Armour Speedform Upper Construction Video

Update 7/10/2013 – just published my review of the Under Armour Speedform. One of the soon-to-arrive shoes that I’m really excited about trying is the Under Armour Speedform. I’m a big fan of shoes that allow me to run sockless, and as the video below demonstrates, the Speedform looks like it is designed to meet […]

Video: Ohope Beach School Kid’s Cross Country Race

Running should be fun, right? That’s the message I take from the video below, which shows a kid’s cross country race held by the Ohope Beach School in New Zealand (see video below). Looks like a beautiful place, and love that the kids are mostly running the race barefoot! Ohope Beach School Cross Country 2011 […]

The Best Shoe Review Ever

My buddy Thomas had his son, “Barefoot” Theo review the kid’s Skechers GoRun Ride. Why “Barefoot” Theo? Because Theo runs a barefoot lap up and down the sidewalk every day before Thomas leaves for work, even in winter (evidence here). In keeping with the theme of the post on adolescent foot strikes that I just […]

What Fatigue Looks Like

I’m teaching Exercise Physiology this semester, and my lecture topic on Thursday is fatigue. As I always do, I start the lecture with a video that demonstrates extreme fatigue pretty vividly, thought I’d also share it here!

Barefoot Running Club Video: Always Good to Laugh at Ourselves!

Strong language warning, don’t play this in front of kids!

Greatness: Awesome Nike Commercial

Like many people, I’ve spent the last two weeks soaking up as much of the Olympic coverage as I can. As someone who rarely watches television (we dropped cable several years ago and have not looked back!), the Olympic experience has reacquainted me with the “commercial break.” I could live without the vast majority of […]

5 Running Form DOs and DON’Ts from Dr. Daniel Lieberman

Came across a tweet this morning from my buddy Tuck of the Yelling Stop blog. His link was to a nice video from Dr. Daniel Lieberman discussing 5 DOs and DON’Ts of running form. I agree with almost all of them, particularly points 1 and 5. As far as footstrike goes, I tend to view […]

A friend on Twitter just sent me a link to a trailer for a new documentary called Town of Runners. As described on the film’s website: “The film tells the story of two young girls, living in a rural town as they try to run their way to a different life. Narrated by their friend […]

Heel Lifts and Postural Adaptation: Fun Video by Patton Gleason

Below is a cool video put together by Patton Gleason, mastermind behind the Natural Running Store and fellow Shepherdstown Running Injury course alum. In the video, Patton uses a stack of wooden blocks to show why a heel lift necessitates postural changes. Great visual, and very clever!
