New Runblogger Tool–Shoe Finder

Quick post to announce a new tool that I put together – I spent several days last week pulling data from nearly every shoe listed on Running Warehouse, as well as from a few brands that they don’t carry. I input all of the data on price, weight, stack height, drop, etc. into a spreadsheet, and then uploaded that into a sortable table here on Runblogger. You can access the shoe finder here, or click on the image below to go there. I’ve also added a link to the navigation bar at the top of the page.

Hopefully you’ll find this useful, and I’m happy to hear any suggestions for further improvement!

  1. Nice! Thanks for taking the time to do this.

  2. Hey Pete -love this tool! Just sent you an email on it with an attachment. Let me know what you think.

  3. Awesome resource… but where’s Skora?! :)

  4. Thanks!

I would love if these attributes could be added:

    Heel: Medium
    Midfoot: Medium to low volume
    Forefoot: Medium to narrow
    Toe-Box height: Medium to low
    Arch Structure: Medium-low

For instance, I want to search for shoes with drop under 10 mm, low/medium-low arch, narrow/medium-narrow heel and wide/medium forefoot. Have been struggling with this for a long time actually.

It would be great to have filtering possiblity on the columns (for instance, display shoes with drop 4-10 mm). I can achieve that myself by copying your table into excel, but still.

    • Need to see if I can find a plugin that will allow filtering. Thought about adding the other stuff on fit, but table was getting wider than the screen. May still add it in at some point, but will take a bit of work.

    Nice work Pete! Very cool!

  6. Peter, this is a great tool, but there seems to be a problem in how it treats the sequence from single to double digit numbers: when you select to order by heel drop, it will start at 0 drop and then go straight to 10mm and above, before coming back to 2, 4, 6,8mm drop etc. Should be an easy fix, I guess.

    • Yes, noticed that as well. Seems like it should be an easy fix, but haven’t been able to get to the bottom of it as yet. The only thing that works so far is to add a zero in front of each single digit number. Might need to see if there are other plugins that work better.

      • You should be able to chose if sorting in alphabetic order (as it is now) or in numeric order. If not, putting a 0 in front of the single digits will work, as long as you don’t find a 100mm drop shoe ;)

        • I figured out the problem – it was sorting those rows as alphabetical because I had input question marks for a few shoes for which I lacked data. The presence of the ? made the plugin think it was not numerical data. Should be ok now.

    • Fixed this :)

The shoe finder tool is awesome! I was in the midst of writing a blog post requesting help finding a shoe based on many of the same parameters. I hopped on your site to find the tool, which helped me narrow my search. Would suggest adding Vivobarefoot. Thanks.

    This is a shoe geek’s paradise :)
Thanks a lot for putting it together.
Maybe a Shoefitr link (if possible) and it would be complete.

  9. Thanks Pete! Would be helpful to have size and width availability
