My friend Nick Pang over at Minimalist Running Shoes is reporting from the floor of the Running Event for Examiner.com. In his Day One roundup he posted a few photos of new shoes from Altra and Mizuno.
First, the Altra One, which Nick describes as a “fast, light, cushioned, do-it-all performance shoe:”
Next, the Altra 3-Sum, which is the first Altra shoe designed for triathletes:
Altra also has a shoe lined up called the Torin (no photos), which is designed to compete with Hoka One One.
Third, in what is turning out to be a contest of sorts between New Balance, Asics, and Mizuno, the 5th iteration of the Mizuno Universe is set to be the lightest running shoe on the market at only 2.8 oz (not sure what size):
For more, see Nick Pang’s article at the Examiner.com.
Drool…. Altra One looks sweet!
That Altra One looks like a neat shoe!
sigh. whatever happened to good ole black on black. i really don’t want to wear shoes that could flag down an airplane.
Pic of the Torin.

I like more cushion. These look intriguing.
I just got the catalog with additional photos of the Torin – will see if I can share.

They’ve got the Torin at Running Warehouse!
I’ve very tempted to try a pair.
I should have a review pair soon, excited about this one!

Just received the Altra One. Great, light shoe, but size was much smaller than planned (may need a full size jump, not just a half). Can’t wait to try the replacements. Any test runs yet from the RunBlogger network of runners?
I’ve seen it in person, but haven’t run in it. Looks promising!
do you know what the differences are between the two altra shoes, part from the laces? from what ive read elsewhere, the drop and stack height are the same, so is the difference anything more substantial than the upper/laces?
I think the sole is the same, but has perforations for drainage in the 3-sum
