Quick post to alert you that the Saucony Kinvara TR trail running shoe is now available at Running Warehouse. The much anticipate Kinvara TR is a lightweight trail shoe (8.9oz) with a 3mm drop from heel to forefoot (18mm heel, 15mm forefoot). For those who, like me, are big fans of the Kinvara road shoe, it will be very interesting to see how the trail version stacks up.
I have a pair of Kinvara trails on order from RW that should arrive within the next few days, and I’ll try to get a first impressions post up later this week. I also have reviews of the Merrell Mix Master 2 and Brooks Pure Grit in the works, both of which I like a lot!
Here are the two other Saucony Kinvara TR color options available at Running Warehouse:
Looks awesome. Unfortunately, it appears to have a medium arch just like the normal Kinvara. I wonder if Saucony will ever make a shoe for runners with low arches.
Looks great! Dan H thats a confusing comment about your feet! What does your arch height have to do with the suitability of a minimalist/natural shoe?
The Kinvara has medium height arch support. In that respect it is not a minimalist/natural shoe. I have low arches, so when my foot hits the ground, the arch support bangs into my arch. After a couple miles, my arches hurt too much to run anymore. There are plenty of people that have posted online about this problem. Some people resort to cutting out a section of the insole. It didn’t work for me though.
I have had the Kinvara TR on my feet in the last few days. Unfortunately I feel it fits much narrower in the toe box than the road Kinvara does. : ( It is a great looking shoe. It also feels like it sits a little closer to the ground which is nice for the trails. A good rock plate with a little protection but still a lot of flexability. Should be good for most everyone unless you have a wider forefoot.
How does it compare to Saucony’s Peregrine?
Don’t have them yet, will know more in a few days.

I have them in the mail, but I will probably be sending them back quick if they feel to narrow. I like the Salomon S-Lab Sense a lot and runningwarehouse said that the Sense were more narrow then the Kinvara TR
