But kudos to you for still enjoying the sport with your family. I have a 5k this Saturday coming up and its going to be a hilly course. Climate And course affect time and I’ll prob have to remember this Sat!

Running is such a mental sport, so hard to put things into perspective during and immediately after a race when you perceive that things have gone badly. Hard to remember that sometimes your bad day was a bad day for almost everybody because of course and conditions!

Sorry to hear that Aaron, have you tried running again and had a bad experience, or were you advised not to try?

So it was weird to read this post this am. I ran a half that I ran last year with an 8 min. pace but the course fell about a 1/2 mile short (garmin read 12.6) and I never happen to hear this year if the changed the course to make it 13.1 but to notice each mile that it was coming up short compared to my garmin. But the weather was horrible this year; it was freezing (garmin said 45, but felt like 39) and the wind was intense. I was SO bummed that I could not maintain an 8 min. pace, especially on the hills w/ wind from miles 6-10. Long story short, I ended up w/ a 1:49ish ( 5 min. slower than a PR and last year) but the course did actually measure 13.17. Later that day- looking at results I ended up placing 2nd in my age group 30-39 w/ the first place female being only 35 seconds in front of me. So I’m guessing the wind and hills kicked everyone’s butt not just mine. But I was disappointed on my ride home too-I spend all this time training for it to come together on race day-when it doesn’t it is frustrating:(!

I had a sesamoidectomy a year ago and I think I’m probably done running, so enjoy every step.
