Thanks Dave, I really appreciate that!

But, you seriously “undersold” Lynn Jennings.

She won the US National Cross Country championships 9 times. yep, nine flipping times.

She won the World Cross Country championships 3 times.

Thanks, in any other year I’d be teaching my first lecture tomorrow morning! Feels weird to not have too, but no regrets at all. Glad I made the jump.

I’ve been teaching at a small liberal arts university for 18 years now, a total of 20 years teaching and still (duh) am not close to being able to retire. I would quit tomorrow if I could come up with something that is marketable–or if I could write that best seller. I envy your ability to breathe right now and enjoy life, and camping. I love my students, but wow, what I wouldn’t give to not deal with the BS that goes along with the job.
Congratulations, good luck, and happiness to you. My friends from my home university that have quit and tried a new life have never EVER looked back. Happy as clams. I suspect you will be too.

As accomplished as every coach is in their own right, each one of you has the ability to connect with every camper on their own level, be it a 3-hour or 5-hour marathoner, a beginning half marathoner, or an ultra runner. Lynn sets the tone with her warm, caring, professional style.

Biggest shame is that it’s 9,000 miles away from home right now… :)

All that, and she’s incredibly kind and and a true inspiration. Couldn’t think of a better person to lead the running program at Craftsbury!

And I should add that she won her age class at the Head of the Charles last year, defending the title soon I think. She sculls as well as she runs!
