i was a big fan of the original n1 and have just ordered version 2. if they keep the ride similar and make minor improvements they’ll have a big winner. surprisingly these seem to fly under the radar for a lot of folks. great, great shoe.

I have been eyeing v2, just need to get through some other reviews first :)

Much, much firmer.

Keep an eye on the new version of these starting to come out, it looks like they have segmented the outsole more (more flexibility) a it appears they have added a bit more outsole too, wih some small nubs. They are also introducing an N3 model tha thas even more cushion. I am currently debating on waiting for those or snatching up some N2’s as the go on sale…either way I have been drooling over these for a while as I am starting to dislike my Ride 7’s…maybe it is the cold weather, but the forefoot feels like concrete lately…otherwise a great shoe.

I never ran in the trail version unfortunately. The road version is quite a firm shoe, but smooth running. Took a few runs to get used to it but wound up liking it a lot.

Considering the road version. Is the N1 Road essentially the same shoe as the trail version but without lugs?

If you like the firm feel of the N1, the Saucony Mirage may be worth a look. Too firm for me but may be more durable: https://runblogger.com/2014/03/saucony-mirage-4-running-shoe-review-good-choice-if-you-like-a-firm-shoe.html. Also, which Kinvara did you try? There was an issue with one model having a high ankle collar, the fit of the newest version (5) is great on me.

Best fitting upper I have ever run in. The firmness of the shoe actually makes for an incredibly smooth run. The only issue I’m having is that the exposed EVA is shredding pretty quickly on the medial side. Do you have any recommendations of a 4mm”ish” lightweight trainer that has more blown rubber on the medial side of the sole? (I’ve tried the Kinvara, which was a great shoe, but rubbed my peronial tendons the wrong way – weird fit issue).

In regard to the durability I have used mine for 400+ miles and they are still completely in tact. There is actually almost no wear and I have not had any discomfort problems. Also, I have worn these on both dry and muddy non-technical trails and I would say they are a viable options for dry less technical trails but have no real lug
on the outsole so I would look for another shoe on wet or more techy trails. Great reviews!
