Still a bit high (where you can have 2 pairs of NB or Brooks) a price point though, but I have slipped my feet in them and the feel is incredible.
Wondering what you meant by “bring water bottles this time and trying hydrating”. Isn’t he wearing a hydration pack in “unbreakable”?

I bought Innov-8 TrailRoc 245 and they are good as well.

I have the Sense Ultra, which I bought as an alternative to my Altra Lone Peaks. I was looking for a shoe with: 1) good grip in wet conditions (which the Altra’s lack), 2) light weight; 3) decent cushioning, but still minimalist.

To be honest, after a few runs, I was a slightly disappointed with the Ultras because 1) I felt the toe box was a bit too tight 2) I felt it was a bit too hard (which isn’t necessarily bad, I just wanted a bit more cushioning for 100K races).

However, over time, I have come to like them more and more. there are probably few shoes out there that can match them in terms of being able to run with speed while also offering good grip and protection. I also feel that perhaps the shoes have become slight better fitted towards my feet. They are truly a joy to run in, but I still doubt I would personally use them for any race over 50K.

Thanks Stephen. Seems many of us have had similar journeys along these lines.

Your shoe journey (starting from too minimalist to finding the sweet spot) sounds very familiar. ;)
