I tried the Brooks jacket on at REI a few months back which is when a became enameled by the concept. However, it fit really tight across my shoulders and wasn't going to work for me. The Merrell fits me much better.

Send the jacket to me and let me try it. I'm going to let people know if what you said about the jacket is true.
Joke aside, I think this jacket is comparable to Brooks LSD (very thin and water/ wind resistant ). But the LSD is much cheaper.

Oh by the way Pete, are you going to review the new Merrell Hammer Glove soon ? I'm curious about the velcro strap at top of this shoe. I really like to know if the strap will give more secure fit compare to the flux glove and the road glove.

I think so, I tried on the Brooks equivalent and found it really tight across the shoulders. The Merrell has a more generous fit.

How about the smell Pete? The thin windbreakers usually smell awful even after just a day of walk about.

Pete, is the material comparable to other wind jackets? I have winds jackets from Marmot and Brooks that weigh in the 3-4oz range and the durability has been excellent for such a lightweight garment.

I've got a couple of similar light-weight shells from Patagonia. They're years old at this point, and are holding up just fine.
