About 90% of recreational runners are heel strikers according to my work and a recently published study from a marathon in Wisconsin. Those numbers go down in faster runners, and are likely to be influenced by footwear – barefoot runners would probably show a much higher percentage of forefoot striking.

Tell that to all of the shoe stores that still use it as a tool, including the one in my home town.

Also tell it to all the shoe companies that still use the wet test on their websites.

I am surprised by the number of anterior foot strikers in the study above. Generally speaking, there is not an agreement about how many runners land with the mid foot or forefoot and how many are heel strikers. Percentages mentioned in studies vary greatly from one to another.

I forgot to pay my editor :) I struggle with the apostrophe, grammar is not my forte.

I am not sure if it matters. In the end the sales person must advise the client on the right shoe. What else do they go on, apart from the runner’s experience of “what works” for him/her?
On another matter: Do bloggers (and academic writers) know how to use their apostrophes to indicate possession in the plural? ;)

I’ve now seen dozens of videos from runners who ASSURE me that they are mid- or forefoot strikers… and video shows them clearly heel striking.
