Nice easy read. The subtitle, “50 great reasons…”, is a bit misleading. the 50 reasons are interspersed as sidebars throughout the book and don’t define the structure of the book. The book is well structured as a broad discussion of going barefoot: how our feet work, how shoes impact our feet & bodies, the various social & logistical issues related to going through life barefoot: at home, at work, in stores & restaurants, driving, etc. I learned a lot.

I started barefooting to help ease some lower back pain as well as knee problems and found that after just a few months without shoes, the problems vanished, as well as gaining healthier feet in areas that I was not expecting. I read Dr. Daniel Howells book to see what he had to say and found that his book pretty much validated all the benefits that I experienced by loosing the shoes.
I remain barefoot 98% of the time wearing them only when some one makes me and I will continue to do so in order to enjoy the benefits and comfort of being barefoot. I highly recommend this read if you enjoy barefooting at any level at all.
