I have been a fan of the blog for awhile now, and just what to say thanks for putting some of the same feelings I have out there. I have been running most of my 41 yrs and it has had its ups and downs but I always come back to the simple truth, that I love running. So Sun. morning I too, will be running my first road marathon and though I have some lofty goals, I remind myself to have fun and enjoy the moment. thanks for the motivation and the experience that you continue to pass on. Enjoy.

In regards to some marathons becoming more commercial- its good runners still have a choice between large/mainstream events and smaller/non-commercialized races. But even then its difficult to find a non-commercialized race that has a significant amount of competitors.

McDougall’s article stung a bit, as I realized that his reference to iPod wearing runners excessively focused on saving a few seconds applied to me. Remembering my prior marathons sans iPod more vividly than the subsequent ones I’m running without for next week’s San Antonio Marathon – all the better to interact with the pacing group that will be my temporary tribe.

Inspirational as always.
I’ll be running just a 5k training run today, but I’ll be thinking of all you guys ‘on the hunt’. Good luck and make sure you’re the hunter, not the prey :)

I don’t think the bushmen hunt running, maybe the massai ? They sure have the build for it and they do like to spear lions, albeit they let the lions get to them. Can anyone tel me ?
