Thanks Mark – I agree the new Nano is a huge step backward for runners.

So, I hope to milk my 5G along for as long as I can :-)

FYI, I protect my Nano from sweat and fluids damage via: my iFitness running belt (http://www.ifitnessinc.com/ind…, inside which is my iPod, car key and cell phone in a Zip Lock plastic bag. Finally, to prevent my having to manually adjust the volume while the iPod is inaccessible while I’m training or racing I use a Timex iControl watch with iPod adapter.

Teri,

I never used much other than an armband with my old Nano – they’re pretty
resistant. I think mine died from cumulative damage over a long period of
time, and I’m not entirely sure if it was sweat that did it – definitely got
my money’s worth out of it. I have a plastic shell for my new Nano, but it
has openings where water can get in, but I haven’t had problems yet, even
after several pretty snowy runs. I suspect Apple makes them with the
knowledge that they’re used heavily by exercisers.

I have enough issues with the shuffle and sweat that I am worried about upgrading to a more expensive model. (I have an iPhone but I won’t take it running with me unless it’s in a plastic bag in a waistbelt, and I don’t use it for music.) Sounds like you must have some sort of system that works if you’ve gotten 1500 miles out of your old one. Thanks for the help!
