Tread on a stone – agony; Tread on a tree root – broken bones!

After searching for a TRUE, lightweight, trail running shoe, I’ve discovered there’s actually only one in production!: The Saucony ProGrid Outlaw.

The Outlaw is 11.5oz (size 10US?), but is the only proper trail running shoe because it is a 3/4 mid-top, for ankle support. True trail running needs ankle support – if not, you’re just doing flat path cross country (and may as well just wear the Kinvara 2, etc.). Inov-8 have the Terrafly (12oz?) with a 3/4 mid-top too, but they’re not renowned for their trainers, like Saucony are.
