Congrats on an excellent run and PR, Pete! I’m so envious that you got to run in one of the “happiest” places on Earth. :) Very very cool.

Disney Half was the first race I ever did … and it was a great experience. I think it’s one of the reasons I got hooked on running. Your video and report brought me back there… the early morning, incredible Main Street. Everything!

You had an awesome race… should be proud! Congrats again… and thank you for sharing the memories…

I had a blast down there at the Half on Saturday, even if I was running in frigid cold and icy sleet!

Thanks again for sponsoring my 8th mile – I managed to finish the race without any significant knee issues in spite of my being injured the past two months, and I even finished in a respectable 2 hours and 12 minutes. Not a PR, but not a huge bonk either.

Hope you’re recovering well, and thanks again for the great recap.

I have never been a runner, and last year I did the Disney Marathon. It was one the greatest experiences of my life. To the point that I signed up for the half this year (not enough time to train for the full).

You’ll have a blast! Remember one thing, every step forward, is one step closer to the finish!

I’m planning my second half marathon and first full marathon this year. I’m a little apprehensive about the latter miles. Its good to hear that you’ve had this good experience after some more difficult ones. Congratulations on the PR!!

Glad to hear that things went well – 2:12 is a great time considering all
that you’ve been through with the knee!

Bob,

Thanks for the note – best advice I can give is to plan to run the 1st half
at a pace you know you can handle easily, and then pick it up in the second
half if you’re still feeling good. I did this for the first time in Disney,
and it made a world of difference in terms of how I felt late in the race.

Pete

I’m hoping to run sub-3:25 during in May ’12 after a marathon layoff of 4 years and no sub-3:30s in 5 years.
