The Zebrabralight H60 pisses all over these. 110 lumens from its single Cree LED and single rechargeable battery (inside the torch). It actually can put out 190lm for awhile, before it overheats and auto-shuts down (so I only use the 110lm setting, to prevent LED damage, and because there’s actually very little difference between 190lm & 110lm in practice). You can put your spare headlamp around your waist to scan the floor – you still need extra light for ‘fast’ trail running at night (faster than 8 minute miles and you’ll not spot tree roots, etc.).

Zebralight have discontinued the H60. They informed me recently that the H61 is out in 2011.

I just read this review on the Myo and reckon I might have to upgrade!

I’d been running with the eGear Focus Control because of its combination of adjustable lighting and rear blinker. With cycle-through filter options (red, blue, green), it had more features than I needed, but did me better of night runs than the Princeton Tec Fuel or the handful of Petzl lamps I’d collected along the way. It’s heavy, but not so heavy that I minded it much…until I laid eyes on the Black Diamond Sprinter at the Outdoor Retailer show in July. Game over, the Sprinter is IT. Great review.

Last year a Petzl rep came into the outdoor store I work at and asked if i was a Petzl user.. I told him I bailed on Petzl when I noticed how much brighter and user friendly BD headlamps were. His response..”We revamped our headlamps and now they are 80% brighter.” No offense bud.. but if you’re not willing to go the extra mile to make a light 100% brighter… I’m not interested in switching back.

If the “casual jogger” finds these headlamps to be too pricey.. I suggest running during day light hours. Can’t play with the big dogs? stay on the porch! ;)

Cheers!
SJ

It’s also NOT a flood, it has a hotspot. You could not give one of those lights to any decent trail runner and have them willingly use it, nobody wants that hot spot burnt into their eyes.

The Black Diamond Sprinter Headlamp may however be considered a little pricey for the casual jogger.

Its lumen stats are so massive it is ridiculous! It could burn an eyeball out! £56/$89, bargain! You’d need 2 or 3 of these other lamps, they are not anywhere near bright enough! The brand new H600 will be the most powerful single (rechargeable 18650) battery headlamp ever! By a long, long way. Get 1!
