I am new to the social media world, and find this post helpful. I use twitter but did not know about Tweetdeck, and I will definitely check out Dailymile. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for pointing me to this post. I finally took the opportunity to read it! I think it’s well written and you said it best when you mentioned you choose what’s most important and focus on that. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do with this experiment. I too value the community I’ve developed through daily mile, twitter, and facebook. But I sorely lack the discipline to check it for a few minutes. I find myself working on a PowerPoint presentation or an excel model at work, and I’m checking twitter from distraction rather than having a break. Same applies when I come home from work and I rush to the computer rather than focusing on the puppy (except before she pees all over the kitchen if she looks anxious :) I’m basically taking the hard way out in order to learn discipline. I’ve never been very good at doing things “sometimes”, and I think this is a way for me to learn. I’ve already noticed within a week that I’m focusing on my values much more!

I think you’re doing everything right. I love reading your blog and I learn a lot from what you post and just your balanced lifestyle in general! Your tip on my blog regarding trying to do things in between activities, like recording the podcast in the car. That’s great advice and something I’ll work on!

Thanks again for stopping by my blog and giving me some advice. It’s very helpful! I look forward to resuming our conversation on twitter soon :)
