My feelings were a bit more mixed – though it is a rare example of a book portraying the value of running as providing the anchor of “routine” in the type of life that is otherwise fluctuating between unscheduled and overscheduled, where it would be easy to either coast by or become overly intense.

I have yet to conquer my fear to level up to 21KM soon. i picked up murakami’s book also since i love running and writing. it totally lived up to my expectations and found myself agreeing every so often to the things murakami related in his book. i love your blog! :)

I am definitely going to read the book. I have number of friends who have asked me why I run. Before I answer their question, I have asked them why they think I run. Most of my friends have responded by saying “To stay healthy”. Yes – that is true but that is not my primary reason. My profound reasons for running are to connect my inner sense of well being to the nature surrounding me. Running is like a cocoon being wrapped in my own world – security, freedom and the ability to enjoy life. It is with great sadness to see that most people don’t get this opportunity. If I could have one hour out of my busy schedule with my career, family and social aspects, I would take advantage of going out and enjoy the run. I am ME who needs just one hour of this – it fills my mind, emotion and physical needs. My true form of escapism and to enjoy the nature it has to offer to my mind.
One last note : If I am ever in a need for running porn, this is the website to look at. Terrific resources !!!! Thanks for the terrific book review.
