Analyze My Wear Patterns, Please

All,

The following pictures were taken with about 157mi on my pair of Merrell Bare Access 2's.

Thoughts?

Here're the wear pictures...Right shoe first:

  • Looks like a midfoot-forefoot wear pattern to me, very little on the heel.
  • Oh, definitely...I worked on my form to get here :-)

I'm definitely having some left leg/foot mechanical issues because my left forefoot is always beat to death faster than any other spot on either shoe.
Socks are a scam. Just saying :-)
  • Midfoot-forefoot for sure- is the front toe wear from scuffing or push-off?  What is your cadence like?
  • I think it's from push-off.

I really need to do another form video.  Now that my knee's not hurting, I'd love to have a look at how my form looks.

  • You've mentioned increasing frequency of runs- it would be a great time to monitor cadence and concentrate on form. Reducing contact with the ground and increasing efficiency saves money on shoes too ;-)

  • I'm finally into the 20's on my miles...

    June 3rd - 22mi
June 10th - 11.8mi (only got in 3 runs that week)
    June 17th - 20.1mi
    June 24th - 19.1mi
    July 1st - 23.1mi

I definitely concentrate on my form, or at the very least trying to have really quiet footfalls.

  • Good progress! Keep building that base, get stronger, and run forever ;-)
  • Thank you!  I'm up to 20mi this week, with one more run tomorrow to finish out.

Still not sure if I should be worried about the wear.  I don't know how much longer the BA2's will make it...they are just shy of 200mi.

  • More updates:

I definitely have some left foot issues that I don't have on the right side!

Right shoe is on the left, Left on right, you get the idea:

Reversed this time (Left on left, Right on Right):

    Now for the bad news...

It's worse on the left (the white spot in the tear is the tip of my finger!):
