Puma Faas 100 R Zero Drop Running Shoe Preview

Puma Faas 100 RI recently received a couple of pairs of Puma shoes – the Mobium and the Faas 500 v2. The Mobium is a bit of an odd shoe, but the Faas 500 is pretty solid and I hope to write a review up after getting a few more miles on them.

Yesterday I got a message from a Facebook friend (thanks Calvin!) with a link to a preview video of the new Puma Faas 100 R. It’s a 16mm stack, zero drop shoe that weighs in under 6oz. Seems to have a very minimal, highly breathable upper. Looks like an interesting addition to the growing crop of zero drop cushioned running shoes (e.g., Saucony Virrata, Brooks Drift, Skechers GoBionic, Altra Instinct, Mizuno Cursoris, etc.)!

Here’s the video:

And here’s a preview with Mario Fraioli of Competitor.com

Comments

  1. I understand the Kinvara designer has moved on to Puma. I’m curious if you see some similarities.

  2. I got this second hand from someone who works at the Boulder Running Company. I was told it was over 6 months ago, so now I’m doubting my source.

    • Mark Eichenlaub says:

wow, I’ve been wanting to try Puma’s for a while. That might REALLY be the way to get me to give them a shot.

      • I don’t have independent confirmation on the Kinvara designer, but I can say that my son just got a pair of the Puma Mobiums, and they are pretty nice. They are very flexible, decent forefoot width, lightweight, 6mm drop, and a stretchy upper. Puma has quietly been getting some street cred among my more minimal-leaning running friends, though they are a bit more cushioned than what I tend to buy.

  3. Just ordered a pair from Leftlane Sports…they have them for $49! If they are as good as Sketchers GObionics, I’ll be a happy man.
